CANDIDATE REFERENCE CHECK
INTRODUCTION
This pro froma canadidate reference check script will assist you in obtaining information from previous employers in respect of a candidate for employment. The script guides you through a serires of questions, which is asked to previous employers.
SAMPLE EXTRACT FROM SCRIPT
- Call, thank the reference for his or her time and describe the basic functions of this job.
- Inform the reference that responses are kept confidential and that a consent to release confidential information agreement has been signed by the candidate.
- At the end of reference check, ask if there are other references that might be helpful for you to speak with regarding this applicant.
SOME OF THE QUESTIONS INCLUDED
- Describe your working and/or personal relationship with the candidate.
- What are/were the primary functions performed by him/her with your business?
- How did he/she get along with co-workers?
- Was he/she a team player?
- How did he/she relate to clients/customers?
- How would you characterize the quality of work performed by this person?
